Creston Judo Club

The Creston Judo Club enjoys interclub champions provincial champions, inter provincial champions, national champions, and international champions as part of their membership.

Constitution & Bylaws

The purpose of the Creston Judo Club is:

  • To promote greater public awareness of the sport in the Creston Valley.
  • To increase the number of participants in the sport and in the efficient administration of the sport.
  • To promote Judo as a lifelong interest.

Judo Class Times

  • Petite Samurai Teddy Bears 🐻

  • 5-8yrs old white belts

    Monday's 3:30pm-4:15pm

    8 week rotations starting September 8th

    $130 per rotation plus 1x judoBC insurance fee

  • Pre-Junior beginners 🌟

  • 9-11yrs old returning white belts or new commers

    Thursdays 3:30pm-4:30pm

    8 week rotations starting September 4th

    $130 per rotation plus 1x judoBC insurance fee

  • Juniors 💪

  • 9-11yrs old returning yellow belts and higher

    Monday and Thursday 4:45pm-5:45pm

    FULL SEASON Starting September 4th

    $95 month (1st athlete) $90 (2nd athlete from same immediate family) plus 1x judoBC insurance fee

  • Seniors 🥋

  • 12ys and up returning yellow belts and higher

    Monday and Thursday 6pm-7:30pm

    FULL SEASON Starting September 4th

    $95 month (1st athlete) $90( 2nd athlete from same immediate family) plus 1x judoBC insurance fee

  • I shall not communicate knowledge gained as a result of instruction received, to any person not approved by the Creston Judo Club.
  • I agree to accept the authority of the instructor and the decisions of the Creston Judo Club as final.
  • I shall never use JUDO other than in self-defense. I shall uphold the principles of fairness, decency and respectability.
  • I will prepay my annual nonrefundable membership fee or I will provide post-dated cheques in September for the remainder of the year. I acknowledge I (or my child) will not be allowed in the dojo until such time my (our) account is paid in full.

Creston Judo Club Release And Waiver

In consideration of the Creston Judo Club accepting this application, I , for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and assigns agrees to indemnify the Creston Judo Club, its servants, agents, employees, executive members and coaches for any claim or demands which might be made against the Creston Judo Club arising out of or in consequence of the attendance or participation by myself in a course or causes of actions arising out of or in consequence of any loss, injury or damage to my person or property incurred while attending at or participating in a course not withstanding any such loss, injury or damage that may have risen by reason of the negligence of the Creston Judo Club, its servants, agents, employees, executive members and coaches. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, I further release any recourse which I may now or hereafter have resulting from any decision of the Creston Judo Club.

Historic Timeline

  • Club Founded

    The Creston Judo Club was founded in 1970 by Mrs. Irene Yamakawa (IKKYU) from Creston.

  • 1980 - 1989

    Continued by Bob Gruewald Shodan from 1980 to - 1989.

  • 1990 - 2006

    Continued by club Sensei Joe Meers. After his first year of retirement in Lister, B.C. Joe Came from Calgary Alberta where he was an instructor in the Famous "Hiro's Judo Club" run by Sensei Allan Sattin (rokudan), President of Judo Canada.
